Oh The (Halloween) Horror

Here we were, all excited for our little one to experience Halloween for the first time...OK, not actually the "first" time, but truly, the one time first, that she could actually know what it means and enjoy the costumed revelry.
Bella had picked out several variations on a Princess themed costume, having received many pieces and parts for her 3rd birthday.
Fairies, Princesses, Tutu's, wands and the like. She has em all...
So, we pull out the outfit she had chosen...only to be met with a frown, furrowed brow...a stomp here and there...and..."No, I don't wanna wear THAT...EVER!" Ever?
Crap! Now what? How are you supposed to read the mind of a three year old...Wait, you can't...
So, reserved to the notion that I will either have to bribe, or pout...I chose the pout.
Nope, didn't work...EVER!
Threatening works...usually...and thankfully, this time...it did...after a half hour of whining, pouting and threatening...(all me)...I proclaimed that Halloween would be over, her friends would not come over...and we would have to throw away the Pumpkin...(as she calls it, "the Greatest Punkin Ever)...she finally relented...but was not happy about it...
SIGH!
Here is one of the pics...most of them had her frowning, looking down...yes, even picking her nose...
Eventually, she was happy as a clam...many people came by...and Bella made allot of new friends...everyone was a friend...no matter who came by, whether we knew them or not....Bella would exclaim..."Look Daddy there are my friends"..."here come my friends"..."where did my friends go"?...etc...etc...etc...
And the costume? She LOVED IT...and of course, you know where this is going...uh huh...she refused to take it off to go to bed...that was another Whiny Daddy Moment....
Oh Happy Daze!

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Despite the trouble, she's as adorable as ever. My little man wasn't terribly thrilled to be in his costume either.
As usual, the princess is stunning. LOL You may have to change the title of your blog to Princess Bella ;) We had 3 kids come to the door, one princess and 2 teens. It's so sad.
She may not have been thrilled but she looked adorable. I love the "ever" part thrown in, sounds very determined!
awww she is just too cute in that costume. Pookie was always changing her mind on me at the last second when she was that little. I told her one year I was going to dress her in normal clothes and send her out as a disorganized child.
hope ya had a great halloween!
She looked beautiful...despite throwing a fit!!
Costumes are a lot of pressure. I'm not surprised she threw a fit!
One year a girl showed up at our house wearing all the frilly stuff. I asked, "Are you a princess?"
She answered, "I'm a Barbie, princess, ballerina, fairy bride." Yeah!
yeah, well just know it's not any easier with the boys. My son (who will be 4 in December) went through several costumes in two days of Halloween reveling: witch, firefighter, "superhero belt man" (he just wanted to be "belt man" by wearing a belt and telling people that was his costume, but I talked him into the superhero costume accessory), and finally smurf (that costume lasted all of 15 minutes). next time I might just try the threatening. I did enough of the whining for all of us this year!
i just am amazed every time I see her picture what a beautiful girl she's growing into...That said, I don't envy you in ten years!!
Glad you had a Happy Halloween!
She's beautiful! Sorry you had all the trouble with the costume, but I am smiling, ok laughing, after reading this. I hope all of you had a very Happy Halloween!
What a beautiful princess (and costume). id Bella get to trick or treat too or just hand out the candy.
