Long Night...

Forgive this post, as I have had very little sleep last night. Yes, the pics is of a hospital band..yes it has Bella's name on it...*SIGH*. And no, sorry, not gonna post a pic of the little one for this post...it aint pretty right now!

We were all about the playing last night...grabbing a flashlight to head outside to "go see da bugs"...as Bella says...it was meant to be a fun fun fun time...

Bella has this thing lately, where she loves to run...and I mean LOVES....no matter the shoes, she will run like a banshee...In the grocery store, Starbucks, the garage, the hallways...you name it...the world is a runners track to our little ones feet. The problem is, she is kinda klutzy when she runs...hell, sometimes even when she walks.

So, last night, heading out...I had JUST finished my oft repeated command....: "Bella, do not run"...when BAMM...she bit it...heading out to the courtyard, she was a runnin, flashlight in hand...tripping over the end of the outdoor carpet...and...well...um...er...ahem...OUCH...she took a header...face first...into the pavers...and I do mean FACE FIRST! Within 10 seconds of heading outside, she had fallen...beautiful face first...

Standing up slowly, as I ran to her, she wasn't crying...yet...then the wailing...just as I wrapped my arms around her to lift her...sobbing...holding me tight.

Once inside, I'd attempted to comfort and ease her fears and crying....I told her it would be alright...she shouldn't run, as this would happen, but "Daddy will make the hurt go away...."

As I held her, pulling her back a sec to check her...I realized there was blood on her doo-rag...not allot, just a square inch patch....but SHE noticed the blood on my shoulder (from where her head had been resting...That was all she wrote..."My blood Daddy, My Blood...I blooded on you Daddy, My Blood".

Long story short, she needed stitches...two to be exact...and as anyone who knows Bella, knows...she is SO NOT COMFORTABLE with Doctors...(for lack of a better term, I have capped what should have been another one word, plural!). The nurses had to hold her down...in a "papoose" blanket, and one Doctor to clean out the wound...deaden it...and of course sew her up....believe you me...was quite traumatic....she was even yelling for everyone to "Let Go"...and exclaiming..."Daddy, I am stuck"...in the midst of all the yelling, screaming and crying....

And after? ..."Daddy, Papa, I am all better now...That was fun"

FUN? Seriously?

Happy Fatherhood Friday!

omgoodness i'm glad it wasn't anything worse than two stitches. seems like no matter how much we tell them to slow down, they never listen. i don't think stitches are fun. my youngest girl had to get stitches, and she freaked out a bit, too, until they gave her a fruit pop(sicle). lol

i have no ff up yet. maybe or maybe i'm just gonna do a random post that has nothing to do w my usual friday fare. haha

Kids and ERs are never withouot stress, but admist the complaints it sounds like she did well, regardless.

Here's to brighter days soon!

Whew! That must have been hard for all involved! I'm so happy she's ok now.

Oh no, the poor thing. I hope she is feeling better now and that those stitches disappear quickly!

OMG! I had no idea till I read this just now! What a scary thing! Poor baby - both of you :) Give her extra snuggles from me. She will be good as new in a few days I'm sure.

Yikes! That must have been scary, but I'm not surprised that she's going to remember the experience as fun. There's something to be said for being the absolute center of attention for an entire evening even if it does involve stitches. I look back fondly on my appendectomy for that reason . . . well that and the demerol.

I hesitate to share this right now when things are fresh, but one of our preschool mantras is, "The best way to learn about asphalt is to fall on it." Of course, we're thinking about run of the mill raspberries, not trips to the hospital. Still, I'll be interested to know if she's a little a more careful about when and where she runs in the future.

Glad everything's going to be okay. =)

"That was fun!"????

Looks like you have an optimist on your hands! (Silver lining, anyone?)

I'm so sorry that she (and you!) had to go through all of that trauma; I'm glad she's okay!

Ouch! I hope she heals quickly, at least it sounds like she is resilient.

Aww, poor lil Bella. She will heal. But did she learn a lesson? Hang in there Daddy, it's harder on the parents then the kids ;)

I can't believe after all that trauma she said "That was fun!" I think I would have cried at that point.

I've made hospital runs with both of mine, and I know the emotional toll on all. Sorry poor Bella and poor you had to go through this.

I hope both Bella and you have recovered from the ordeal. Of course, with her last statement I think Bella recovered a lot quicker than you did/will.

So, how long did it take Bella to take off at a full tilt run again?

God love our resilient children. Bea still has a small Harry Potter scare from her big fall a few weeks ago. She runs a lot as well, but like a drunken frat boy on Halloween. Yikes.

Glad Bella is going to be okay. I'm being told left and right that there are about 1 trillion more falls to go.

Ouch. Glad she's okay. This is the thing with kids. You don'know what you'll be dealing with from one moment to the next. We have our three year old's birthday party in a few days and this morning he wake up with a runny nose and temperature.

Oooh! I hope FUN sticks! We had 2 surgeries earlier this year and my daughter FREAKED. Now (at almost 4 yrs old) she likes going to the Dr. Not sure why...but I will take it!

Hope she's healed well by now!
